Ground Transport Preferred
Southwest Labradors prefers that you pick up your puppy in person; however, we now offer Ground Transport of your puppy right to your front door to nearly all of the 48 Continental States. We use Get-M-Home transport for taking care of your new baby right to your front door (email me your address to make sure they service your city).
Get-M-Home uses a vehicle that’s specially outfitted for transporting a puppy. It is owned and operated by a family that travels around the country delivering precious pets right to their owner’s front door! They stop several times along the way to take your new family member for a short walk & playtime; the puppy is let out of its kennel every 2-3 hrs.
Get-M-Home has a wonderful reputation with many satisfied customers. You can check out their website for yourself at www.get-m-home.com. The fee for ground transport is $475 which includes the transportation fee plus the extras listed below in the “What Do I Get” section (I make no money in ground transport: the fee nearly exactly covers the costs give or take some change, plus I supply Get-M-Home’s required 5 day food supply at no extra charge to you – and, I still supply you with the first few days food supply for when your puppy arrives at your home).
To WHERE does Southwest Labradors ship via AIRLINES & what is the fee?
For $500 (in addition to the price of the puppy) I offer non-stop flights for shipping a puppy out of El Paso to either Houston Hobby or to Dallas’ DFW. That’s it, no exceptions! Read on for an explanation…
The reason for my decision to ship via AIRLINES ONLY to HOUSTON or DALLAS is as follows:
The puppy would be in a kennel for 8-10 hours. I wouldn’t leave a puppy in a kennel that long here at home, so I’m definitely not going to do it to travel across country! Airlines out of El Paso do not offer non-stop flights to anywhere for live animal cargo except for Houston, Dallas and Salt Lake City. Flights to anywhere else in the country are connected from these locations with a total kennel time for the puppy being anywhere between 8-10 hours: NOT going to happen! (Don’t beg, I won’t budge on this). However, Get-M-Home Ground Transport takes the puppy out of its kennel every 2-3 hrs for a break, and it'll cost you $25 LESS to use them!
Why doesn’t Southwest Labradors offer shipping to Salt Lake City?
I will not ship to Salt Lake City, because the only non-stop flight available leaves at 8am – I would have to leave my house by 5:30am in order to have the puppy at the airport by 6:00a, and that’s just NOT going to happen! (Of course, I can be bought…how about $1,000 for me to get up at the butt-crack of dawn to leave my house that early in the morning?)
Airlines’ Arrival Times:
Continental: There are 2 flights to choose from. Both arrive at Houston Hobby; the first arrives around 4p,
and the second arrives around 6p.
American: There are four flights to choose from. All flights arrive at Dallas’ DFW around the following times:
3p, 5:30p, 7p, & 8:30p.
(Of course the above arrival times are estimates based on the information I gathered via phone calls to these airlines.
They are also subject to availability.)
Why does shipping cost so much?
There are additional costs to the shipping fee. These items are listed below in the “What Do I Get” section. Plus, shipping via airlines is a pain in the kiester; I’d rather not do it, so it’ll cost you. However, a 3 hr trip in a kennel via airline to Houston or Dallas is not too long for a puppy, so I'm willing to do it. But, honestly, El Paso is not that far away from Houston or Dallas; you could drive out here and pick the puppy up yourself. A better shipping method than using the airlines is through Get-M-Home Ground Transport; I make no money on this option – the fee covers their transport charge plus the extras listed below.
What Do I Get for my shipping fee of $475-$500 in addition to my Starter Pack?
• Kennel (only included with airline shipping; not applicable with Get-M-Home Transport)
• Small food & water dishes on inside of kennel (only included with airline shipping; not applicable with Get-M-Home Transport)
• ID Tag on puppy’s collar w/ your address & phone number
(My contact info AND your contact info will be taped to the kennel as well.)
• Leash
• Health Certificate
• 8 wks shots
• Starter Pack mailed to your home via USPS Priority Mail a few days before shipping your puppy
(in an attempt to have it arrive when your puppy arrives).
NOTE: Kennel, food & water dishes are not included with Get-M-Home Transport due to their space restrictions in their vehicle;
they use their own (sanitized after each use) to transport your puppy to you. Also, I make no money on shipping
using Get-M-Home; the fee covers their cost plus the extras listed above.
