A deposit of $200 is required to hold your puppy.
Your deposit is refundable if:
1) You place your deposit before the litter is born, and the litter does not have the color/sex you want.
2) You place a deposit before the pups are born or before they are ready to be chosen (at 5 wks),
but the color/sex you want gets chosen before it's your turn to pick,
and there is not another one, and you have not listed another choice.
For example, suppose you want a chocolate female & nothing else, but only one is born in the litter and someone
ahead of you in line also wants a chocolate female; then, you would get your deposit back because there is not another
chocolate female in the litter.
3) You place a deposit on any puppy, and the puppy gets sick or dies before take-home date.
Otherwise, your deposit is non-refundable.
Pick-of-the-Litter You get to pick your puppy in the order that your deposit is received.
For example, if you are the 4th person to turn in a deposit, then you are the 4th person who will get to choose a puppy.
I encourage you to list your 1st, 2nd & 3rd choices -- or up to 6 if you so choose --
so that if someone ahead of you takes your first pick (and there is not another of the same sex & color),
then you will get your 2nd choice, and so on.
For example, if you are # 4 in line, and your 1st choice is no longer available,
then you get to pick your 2nd choice before the people in line behind you get to pick at all.
However, if your heart is set on only a certain color/sex, then don't list a 2nd choice. If what you want is not born in the litter, or someone ahead of you picks that puppy, then you will have the option of receiving a full refund or being bumped to the end of the line to receive the puppy that's still available. I will not hold your deposit for a future litter -- the money is yours and you should have it back if what you want is not available.
A very important note about pick-of-the-litter:
If you list a 1st, 2nd & 3rd choice, then that's the order it goes in. If your first choice is available in the litter, then that's what you get. Your 2nd and 3rd choices can go to someone behind you in line whose 1st choice is your 2nd or 3rd, etc. For example, let's suppose that your 1st choice is a black male, your 2nd choice is a yellow male, and your 3rd choice is a chocolate male. The litter is born with one black male, two yellow males, and one chocolate male. There's someone ahead of you who wants a black male & there are no more in the litter, so now you get to choose between the two yellow males because that was your 2nd choice -- you are committed to picking a yellow male. Someone comes along and places a deposit after you did, and that person's 1st choice is a chocolate male. Since there are no other chocolate males in the litter, that person gets that puppy even though you listed it as your 3rd choice -- since there are yellow males to choose from, then your 3rd choice goes to someone after you who listed it as their 1st choice.

Note that once you place a deposit, you are committed.
(except in the circumstances stated above for refunds)
For example, let's say you want a black male puppy and there are three born in the litter. But, two people ahead of you in line for pick-of-the-litter each choose a black male puppy. This leaves one black male left -- that puppy is yours: you cannot change your mind and get your money back if there is the sex/color of puppy you want that is still available. Also, you cannot move on to your 2nd and 3rd choices if your 1st choice is still available. Your only option would be to get bumped to the end of the line to get the puppy that's available after the other people in line choose from their lists. If you're not sure, then don't place a deposit until you're certain that the puppy you want is available, because your deposit is non-refundable (except in the circumstances listed above for refund).
